Winged Encounters at Circle B Bar Reserve

Female Great Horned Owl on a lofty perch, casting a watchful gaze over the marshland below.

Palm Warbler added a burst of color and cheerful chirps to the evening.

It was an hour before sunset as the waterside perch became the stage for several Black-crowned Night herons. These stout and chunky herons appear sluggish and can often be seen perched hunched and motionless. One of them, snugly tucked with its head under the wing, dozing off into a serene nap. Amidst the squawks and croaks, Common Gallinule skillfully balanced upon a log in pursuit of some sustenance - a common sight in Florida marshes. Up above, a female Northern Cardinal caught my eye.

Osprey perched high up was enjoying the meal of fish found plentifully in the reserve.

A Red-shouldered Hawk claimed its perch atop a atop a weathered tree, the soft hues of the sky harmonizing with the surrounding colors.

And lastly a Common Grackle emerged with a bit of a theatrical flair, adding a touch of excitement with its vibrant call, momentarily punctuating the serene ambiance.
